Our major foci are currently:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>The development of approaches to improve fisheries stock assessment and management<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The evaluation of existing methods\u2019 performance for assessing and managing resource populations<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The understanding of climatic influences on fishery resources and how to manage marine populations in the face of climate change<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Ongoing Research<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Development and Application of a Management Strategy Evaluation Tool: Tradeoffs between the Management Objectives of Recreational and Commercial Fisheries<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Impact evaluation of Environmental Stress and Bioactive Chemicals on the North Carolina Blue Crab Population<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Development and Application of an International Stock Assessment and Management Strategy Evaluation Tool for Common Dolphinfish in the Atlantic Ocean and the Caribbean Sea<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Program Overview The program is led by Dr. Jie Cao and works closely with the state, federal and international natural resource agencies.
