{"id":5507,"date":"2022-11-15T09:20:46","date_gmt":"2022-11-15T14:20:46","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/cmast.ncsu.edu\/?p=5507"},"modified":"2023-02-08T09:22:15","modified_gmt":"2023-02-08T14:22:15","slug":"cmast-research-technician-earns-poster-award","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/cmast.ncsu.edu\/2022\/11\/cmast-research-technician-earns-poster-award\/","title":{"rendered":"CMAST Research Technician earns poster award"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>Congratulations to NC&#160;State student and research technician at the Center for Marine Sciences and Technology (CMAST), Caroline&nbsp;Branan, who recently received honorable mention for her poster presentation, &#8220;The use of drones in quantifying large marine debris distribution in microtidal marshes,&#8221; at the North Carolina Coastal Conference hosted by North Carolina Sea Grant.&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Caroline presented work she\u2019s been conducting through the CMAST Eggleston Lab, using drones to measure marine debris in marsh ecosystems across the Albemarle-Pamlico Estuarine System.&nbsp; She says, \u201cIt was an honor to receive an Honorable Mention for the NC Coastal Conference Poster Session. This was my first time creating a poster like this, and I am incredibly thankful for this opportunity. I have been working on this marine debris project throughout the entirety of the Covid-19 pandemic, so having the chance to present our work in person to a wide audience was very fulfilling. Erin Voigt and Dave Eggleston have also been incredible mentors to me throughout my time in the Marine Ecology and Conservation Lab.
