The NC State University Center for Marine Sciences and Technology (CMAST) took in 109 cold-stunned sea turtles from Cape Lookout on Sunday.\u00a0 Unfortunately, only 36 of them survived.\u00a0 Deceased turtles will be necropsied and used for research.\u00a0 Surviving turtles are being examined and treated at CMAST.\u00a0 Afterwards, they will be transferred to the NC Aquarium at Pine Knoll Shores and the Karen Beasley Sea Turtle\u00a0Rescue and Rehabilitation Center in Topsail, to complete their rehabilitation before eventually being released back into their natural habitat.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n
