Ancient Peru was home for the Incan Empire until its fall to the Spanish Conquistadores in 1533. Peru remained under Spanish rule until it declared independence in 1821. Thus human activities along the Peruvian coast dates back many centuries. For this investigation, the focus will be on the two most prominent human activities in Peru within the last two centuries, the anchovy industry and guano industry. |
