CMAST Hosts Annual Oyster Roast

On Saturday, April 13 the NC State Center for Marine Sciences and Technology successfully hosted its 7th annual oyster roast. According to Dr. David Eggleston, director ofCMAST, nearly 180 people attended the event. Eggleston welcomed the crowd and NC State Chancellor Randy Woodson gave a brief campus update.

Participants enjoyed home-grown oysters from several oyster companies, including the Anchored Life Oyster Farm, Cape Hatteras Oysters, Crystal Coast Oysters, Middle Sound Oyster Company, Morris Family Shellfish Farms, and Shepard’s Point Oyster Company, as well as steamed clams from Carteret Community College’s aquaculture program, and barbeque served by the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 9960.

The No Name Drifters band from Greensboro provided entertainment. A huge thank you goes out to this year’s sponsors, including Lynn Eury 1959, Trent 1980 and Wes Ragland, Crystal Coast Corks and Forks, Starling Marine, and the NC State College of Sciences Foundation.
