Sirkin Earns Technology in Education Certification
Marsha Sirkin, director of the coastal satellite office of the NC State Science House at CMAST, is one of the first forty-one North Carolina educators to receive International Society for Technology in Education (ISTE) Certification at the recent Ed Tech Conference in Texas. ISTE Certification is a globally recognized credential for educators who excel in integrating technology to enhance student learning.
The certification process includes online and in-person professional learning modules focused on the ISTE Standards for Educators, which cover being a learner, leader, citizen, global collaborator, designer, facilitator, and analyst in digital age teaching. Sirkin’s leadership and work with the North Carolina Coaching Collaborative was highlighted in three sessions led by the North Carolina Department of Instruction.
“In my new role as the director of the Coastal Satellite Office of The Science House at CMAST, I have sometimes felt I’ve had one foot in technology and the other in science instruction,” says Sirkin. “This conference was very validating because the theme was about how technology and science work hand in hand to address global issues by leveraging scientific discoveries and technological innovations. By integrating scientific knowledge with technological tools, we can develop comprehensive solutions to complex global challenges, fostering a more sustainable and equitable world.”
